Not dissuaded by the fact that the landlord mysteriously keeps changing the locks, Jen spends her mornings coordinating phones, electricity and all of those new parking spaces!  Did I mention the office is the same price as our current one in Burbank?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Regarding Internet and conversational media, we are happily posting and tweeting notices of available candidates as well as new jobs.  Google Analytics shows increases in Workway.com traffic steadily week after week with our bounce rate down to 36%.   Branches supply the site with new content daily, rolling the "big snow ball" of words so that people find us easily and Twitter and Sweethearts candy unveiled plans to stamp Tweet Me on their heart shaped fruity candy.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While title and escrow business is down, the VMS group is enjoying placing a larger volume of high level positions in IT and engineering and feels confident about growth in that market.  Bob May from VMS spent time with Darin from RTGIT to give him even more visibility on the web and he is currently recruiting for nuclear engineers.  Fortunately Linda Schwartz was not shy to spell out N-U-C-L-E-A-R to me as I was challenged in this area and now am able to post it to this blog.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Voices continue to fail in Mesa, as Susan's client rescheduled a meeting due to laryngitis.  While she and Jodi would like to see a pick up of escrow and title orders this quarter, they are filling call center positions and had no assignments end this week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Florida, Linda had a good week and is continuing to market via email and hot sheets.  While there are layoffs in her market as home ownership turns towards "dream and not reality," the Orlando office is filling orders for home auctions and closers.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stephanie in Ft. Lauderdale sees pickup in short sales and foreclosures and she has been moderating discussion about the DJSP merger.  Stepanie has a client moving some operations to Lewisville and plans to work with the Dallas Metro branch on that transition.  In Pittsburgh, we have some good leads and have signed an agreement for a new client to implement mid to late 1st quarter.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kevin sees a sudden surge in the foreclosure world, lots of under $100K homes being bought by the investment community and mentioned something about "Bouncing off the Wall."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Orange County had four new placements this week in title and escrow with direct hire on the rise and the Inland Empire has five new placements scheduled to start on Monday.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Dallas metro, one of our very close prospects sold their company this week putting our contract on hold and making room for "smiling and dialing."  However, a brand new client driving on Cambell Road in Richardson walked through the door and placed an order for 3-5 collectors and a customer service representative placed by the branch on a temp assignment was converted to full time employee after just one day.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Biggest news in Texas however, is Erica Santoyo's wedding engagement as announced on Facebook.  Congratulations, Erica.  We are happy for you!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I enjoyed lunch with the Carlsbad office yesterday.  Jill Bordwell is busy in sales with new prospects on the rise, she is moving seven minutes to the office and excited about Bullhorn's new Blackberry Sync.  Shanel is rocking in recruiting and coordinating with other branches across the country in an effort to leave no order unfilled.  I take back all tongue and cheek comments regarding frozen iguanas in Ft. Lauderdale as I am about to hop on the 101 freeway to Burbank in a torrential downpour. Our visit included lovely and greatly appreciated clients and bankers, time with the Richardson staff and lots of eating. The two days were productive, educational and yummy!   Donna Roland's tightly knit team has a fantastic groove and the gals' immediate goal is to recruit well and deeply,  filling all of their open orders.  Donna is currently drinking bloody Marys on Bourbon Street, playing penny slots and anticipating a win for her Saints.  If Arizona prevails, best to avoid Roland and ask for Connie on Monday.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Although Roger enjoyed WiFi on the flight back, coach seats seem to be getting smaller as I get older and I only just discovered the movable feature of the head rest with 15 minutes left till landing.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Interesting findings from the Staffing Industry Analysts show that many job seekers believe that agencies charge fees to candidates and 40% do not think it is possible to get a full time position through a staffing agency.   In reality, there should never be a fee to candidates and most of our positions are temp-to-hire, leading to full time jobs.  Workway will incorporate job seeker education in how to use a staffing agency into our web and social media campaign.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While open positions show on the new web site, we are still developing the best way to manage the postings, keeping them current and easier to search and find by skill set and location.  While updating and improving the site and content added every day, all suggestions are welcome.  Employees, clients and candidates alike are encouraged to submit blogs, thoughts and findings about industry trends and news about branches and candidates for posting to Workway.com.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our computers are old.  We will be working with the branches in order to upgrade hardware to improve productivity, recruiting and making work more fun.  I, myself, recently switched from hacking solely on a four year old MacBook to gliding with an HP tower connected to dual screens and see the importance of getting everyone's tools up to date.  Bob May has added a second monitor as well, making his life, "a dream," being able to view a job req on the left with candidate profile on the right.      &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Speaking of Bob, the VMS group could hit 100 reqs this week.  There were 91 last week and average activity was 82 in 2009.  Accounts that we haven't seen in months are returning, there were some nice starts this week and with 32 interviews last week, VMS is optimistic about the new year.  Bob gives a special props to George Henriquez in Burbank who totally rocked a fraud analyst placement, locating a candidate and arranging an interview within three hours demonstrating successful inter-branch communication and cooperation.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Linda enjoyed her week in Orlando with a lot of recruiting, firming relationships and working dilligently on three direct hires.  Not only are Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale seeing several new job orders, we are receiving lots of client referrals.  While last week Linda felt that no one knew about Workway, she now hears the buzz of Title Agency reps speaking our praise!   &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jennifer is stoked in SoCal, AZ and NV with 30 new starts between five branches and sees orders in banking, credit union, call centers, title and escrow.  One of her region's goal in January is to connect with existing clients, educating them about the new online time card system.  Clients who have already implemented the system love it and we hope to continue to bring on the bliss!    &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Shawn had an overall good week and is seeing new orders in escrow, customer service and title both in Irvine and the Inland Empire.  Among other things, Shawn's group is recruiting for a marketing position, an attorney and a commercial title searcher/examiner.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Big news is that Workway has been approved for Minority/Woman owned business status by the Supplier Clearinghouse. Lauderdale, the Tide rolled over Texas in Pasadena and, yes Kevin, there is smog in LA but convertible tops are down on the 405 Freeway!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Darin and Lisa spent time with Roger on Tuesday in the Orange County and the Inland Empire, continuing to integrate Internet strategy with operations.  The uber techies were so impressed by June Jasmin's savvy, and her toys, that they couldn't even wait to get home to San Clemente before buying their very own NetBook.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kristin is busy measuring and ordering furniture the new corporate office space, and by the way, it needs to be here before next month!  We will be moving from Burbank to Glendale, leaving the old and questionable location in Burbank for a gorgeous and modern space in Glendale with more parking and no increase in rent!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Conversational media, web development and Internet search placement efforts are blowing it through the roof and Google Analytics proves it as each day we receive more hits than the last.  Heidi works endlessly with the branches on this and results are visible!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In December, employment in temporary help services increased by 46,500 while the country as a whole lost 85,000 jobs. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Roger wisely cautions us to manage expectations despite all of the media regarding the uptick in the temp staffing industry and reminds us to be smart and nimble in the first quarter approach to make sure the economy and labor market has legs beneath it before we get too excited.  It is too late for me as I am already too excited. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jennifer's region continues to work on diversification, redefining and finalizing Q1 target lists, a lot of new orders for call centers, banking and benefit administration, a few new orders in title and escrow in San Diego and a Las Vegas contract in negotiation.  We have been selected as a new vendor for a financial firm and will be filling those orders by end of the quarter.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Kevin's region, the Florida Supreme Court adopted a program in which all foreclosure cases in the state courts that involve residential property will be referred to mediation.  This and changes in short sale laws will have an effect on our clients.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stephanie in Ft. Lauderdale is seeing continued growth in our mobile closing business and David's phone has been ringing off the hook with buzz from his latest hot sheet! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bob May's group, VMS national staffing, is already off to a fantastic start of the year.  Bob has been working with clients to address State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) increases and dialog has been open and receptive.   We have great coverage on all of our requirements this week.  Phones had slowed in December and now there seems to be a "New Years Resolution to get back to work." We are especially busy with telecommunications and light industrial.  78 reqs since Monday!  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Linda, in Orlando had a great 2009 and is not quite ready to give up last year although it has been a good week so far with new credit union business on the horizon.  Unfortunately there have been some client lay offs but also some orders, a new contract and lots of room to grow as "no one has even heard of Workway!" &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Orlando and Dallas are working together for a national client and modeling our vision of Chaotic Communication in which any employee can talk to any client and collaborate with any other employee in order to solve someone's problem!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Donna, in Dallas, had the "most phenomenal payroll week ever" and online timecards are helping her branch to focus.  The Dallas/Richardson, TX office is filling another 10 customer service positions today, we have candidates interviewing for an in-house recruiter position and have sealed a deal to staff a new security client with 20 possible incoming reqs!  We are also networking and resourcing to fill direct hire placements in that region.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Susan, in Arizona, was all fired up to make calls until losing her voice to a nasty bug.  Susan, please obey doctor's orders, spend the weekend in silence and restore your vocals.  The doctor even offered to write her a note!  Phoenix had a good year overall in 2009 and the branch is looking forward to 2010.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Shawn's region, Orange County title, escrow and mortgage enjoyed a stellar year despite the poor economy with the Irvine branch reaching $8 million in sales!  There is activity in title, including orders for searchers, commercial examiners, a title and an escrow officer.
